Pls chance me for UCs

Hello Gumbymom pls chance me for UCs - San Diego, Irvine, Davis, also CalPoly SLO.

SAT 1470
UC Unweighted GPA: 3.94
EC: 3 years of Cybersecurity
Intended major: CS/Data Science, EE, Aerospace or Bioinformatics
Indian male - Sacramento suburb - competitive school
AP: 6 so far; 3 more planned for HS senior yr.

Thanks

You are on the right track and look competitive so far but until you complete your Junior year and you have your actual UC GPA’s, chancing is somewhat difficult.

https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

SLO uses 9-11th grades in their GPA calculation and caps the # of honors points to 8 semesters of UC approved Honors, AP/IB or DE courses taken 10-11th grades.

All schools look within Reach. Make sure you have 2 safety schools on your list that are affordable and you are willing to attend no matter what.

Also consider taking the SAT subject tests: Math 2 and one other Science to be competitive for the UC’s.

Best of luck.

Yes, I plan to take 2 SAT subject tests this year. If I maintain my GPA would any of the UC schools I listed be considered a match for CS? Thanks for your inputs.

What is your UC capped weighted and Fully weighted GPA currently?

4.25 and 4.5

Based on 2018 admit rates and 2019 Capped weighted GPA and test score averages, you look competitive for all.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSD: 70%
UCD: 89%
UCI: 75%

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCSD: 4.16 (4.03-4.28)
UCSB: 4.16 (4.04-4.28)
UCI: 4.13 (4.00-4.25)
UCD: 4.13 (4.00-4.26)

2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals:
UCSD: 1300-1520
UCSB: 1280-1520
UCD: 1230-1490
UCI: 1250-1510

SLO data:
SLO GPA: 4.07 – 4.28
SAT : 1370 – 1520

Appreciate your feedback…Thanks

My in-state daughter has a 3.9 capped weighted GPA and a 4.14 weighted GPA, with 7 APs. She has a 33 ACT (34 Math, 34 English), with good extracurriculars (Varsity Lacrosse starter on a championship team, Intern for CA State Senator, campaign volunteer for State Assembly, City Youth Commission), and is a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. Applied as undeclared.

Are her chances low for admission to UCSB based on her capped weighted GPA?

@sbdad12: Please start your own thread in the UCSB forum.

Thank you.
