Pls help about the condition of admission!!

Hello, one of my friends got admitted to UC Berkeley and he has the problem now.
*Complete all final-year courses listed on your application (including any external examinations) with an overall unweighted B average for each term and no grade lower than a C. Immediately notify us, in writing: if you did not meet the grade point average condition for any term of your senior year; or of any changes to your senior year class schedule.

In here, it DEFINITELY says to get OVERALL UNWEIGHTED B AVERAGE grade. However, his UW GPA is not over 3.0 because his and our school is quarter-based, which somehow results GPA out strangely. He did get 81 in overall and this obviously satisfies the OVERALL UW B AVERAGE but will there be any problem such as rescind for the fact that his UW GPA is lower than 3.0? By just looking at that condition, there's no word mentioning of GPA but only of GRADES so technically, he shall be okay but still... any helpful comments?

*His overall grade is 81 but his UW GPA is 2.8.

Berkeley treats a B average as a 3.0, since a B- Average would be 2.7 and a B+ would be a 3.3. When i was admitted two years ago, the conditions clearly stated that an unweighted, 3.0 GPA was required in each semester of the senior year to guarantee admission. I would throughly read the conditions again to make sure exactly what it states.

Your friend should definitely contact the university, as I am almost sure this is a breach in the CofA.

The other thing to consider is how Berkeley will calculate the GPA for the purpose of testing the 3.0 requirement, mainly in terms of how your high school’s term grades are treated (i.e. which ones are counted).
