PLS HELPP! Should I try Decision Appeal for original major???

Hi guys,
if there is any of you guys that are familiar with UIUC’s decision appealing process pls help me.

I got accepted for Fall 2015 in Computer Engineering major, which is my alternative major, my original major is Computer Science. And I actually would really prefer computer science than computer engineering.

So I have been thinking about doing a decision appeal for the admission to my original major, but would it hurt the admission I already have if it failed? I don’t wanna lose my offer :frowning:

Or is it possible to transfer major within the same department after I have enrolled there?

Thank you so much for reading my post!!

*If any of you looking to apply to UIUC for future terms feel free to ask me questions too!

Hey!
Well it wouldn’t really hurt your chances as they have already accepted you for another major!
But I wouldn’t suggest an appeal as they are hardly successful
Especially in UIUC they ask us to appeal usually only when there was a mistake in our original application.
I advise you on calling the admission department and ask for an admissions counsellor and just politely ask weather you should appeal or not. Have some solid reason ready when she asks for why do you wanna appeal!
hope this helps :slight_smile:

@UWfreshman123 Thank you! :smiley:
Btw from your username… are you going to University of Washington by any chance? Im in WA right now and waiting for reply from UW as well!!
have you got accepted yet?

Nobody was allowed to request CompE as a second choice major to CS in ENG this year as an entering freshman. Are you a transfer?

Appeals are a real long shot, and it may even be too late in the process to get reviewed. Be careful though, as I don’t believe the above info is correct about how secure your CompE position is. Talk to admissions first as advised above.

Good luck.

@TylerL14 Yes I’m accepted to UW Pre-engineering :slight_smile:
