My school is offering this course next year, and as I’ve been through the PLTW Engineering pathway prior to this, I’m taking it regardless. However, I’ve gotten some news that it is essentially AP Computer Science, and that it prepares you for the AP test. Is this true, and if so, how well did it do for you? Should I take it?
As of next school year, there are two different AP Computer Science courses. “Computer Science A” is the old course, which is focused on algorithms & programming (in Java). “Computer Science Principles” is a different course that focuses on a broader view of computer science.
Yes, the PLTW course will get you ready for an AP test: namely, the AP Computer Science Principles test. This is different than the AP Computer Science A test.
