thanks to everyone that replys! Do you think I should pusue an Associate in Arts degree before I graduate or do you think it will be too much work? Any constructive critism is appreciated.

What schools are you interested in going to?

im 50/50 that i can get accepted into either Brown or Northwestern or UPenn, but my dreamschool is yale :)

I hope someone else will chime in and talk with you about getting your AA and the risk that you must then apply as a transfer student rather than a regular entering freshman. Odds of admission are much lower for transfers. Read the Yale and other college websites very carefully before you get too many college credits.

I am wondering what your motive is in taking that many community college classes. Are you hoping for college credit or just to enhance your application? Isn't an AA degree equivalent to two years of college or 48 credit hours. That is a lot of classes to take. My impression in touring some Ivy League universities with my D recently is that they weren't very eager to give credit for classes taken and they want you to stay on their campus for four years and take their classes. However, I have not specifically researched the schools you mention. The state university where I live seems to be more open to taking credit and students are able to graduate in three years due to AP and dual enrollment credit. Anyway, I'm not giving you a definite answer (sorry) just raising some possible issues.

Your stats are good. The only thing that seemed a little odd to me is that you state your major as Biology but then your EC's don't include anything science- or biology-related. Science majors seem to usually list a science club, camp or research program they have done. Your EC's indicate more of an interest in music, languages and writing.

thanks for the replys! I don't want to get college credit to replace the ones im going to take at an actual university. I also called up yale and explained my situation with getting an associate's degree AND fully intending to go to a university for FOUR years. She said as long as I planned apply as a freshman without any non-AP college credit, then I could enter as a freshman and go through the same process as all the other highschool seniors go through. She did say that it would still be impressive getting an AA degree while in high school :)

An AA degree will most likely be impressive to adcoms, but the main reason I want to get an AA degree is because I love the arts and I to keep all my options open. I really am in love literature and languages, but my parents won't pay anything for a major that they don't see as "profitable" or in other words "Biology->Doctor" and "Law->Lawyer". Yep thats how we indians roll:) I don't really see myself majoring in Law, but I do love Evolutionary Biology specifically, so I'm hoping to double major with Biology and something fun like African Studies or Japanese language/literature (I'm already fluent). Keep up the responding peeps :)

I'm so glad you called Yale and found out about the AA degree. I haven't heard of any other high school students getting the degree. I was going to guess that you were in the "my parents want me to go to med school" group. It seems to be a pretty large group. We do need more doctors especially ones who aren't weird and are on my insurance plan and are accepting new patients. Keep up the good work!
