I am currently attending Santa Monica College. Plan to transfer to UC berkeley.
Math major.
GPA 3.84
Calculus1 A
Calculus2 A
Calculus3 B That all the math i took so far. Plan to take "Ordinary Differential Equations" and I think i will get A.
All Other class are A.

So I think Calculus 3 will be the only B i have. Will this B hurt me?

PLZ chance me for transfering to UCB

Also, I work in SMC as a math tutor~~~~~~
I was a Representative for a Club

Just keep up the good GPA you have this upcoming school year and write a good personal statement. If you do these things then you’re in :)

good luck!

Don’t you think the B from Calculus 3 will hurt me?

Some students nowadays tend to think that a B will eat them alive sigh
No that B will not hurt you. Having a B in pre-req is normal, even for a math major. My friend got 2 Bs (one in Calc 3 just like you, the other in Linear-DE combine class) and a couple of Cs and still get into Math/Econ at UCLA.

cause i always heard ppl say UCB need 4.0 ````````

Nah, not that old, fart, overrated joke again T____T
Even with a 5.0 or 10.0 GPA you can still be rejected in Haas or School of Engineering if you miss one pre-req…
My advice is: keep doing the best as you can (and I can see your confidence and determination in the DE class already - good for you), complete pre-reqs, maintain high GPA (even 1 more B will not kill you TBH), write a good essay and Cal will welcome you.

I really don’t think that B would hurt you too much. I got into EECS for this Fall with basically the same grades as you, a B in Calc 3 but A’s in all other classes including Calc 1, Calc 2, and Diff Eq/Linear Alg.

Then again, I also got A’s in Physics 1, 2, and 3, and circuits and C++ programming so maybe those held more weight than Calc 3?

Anyways, as long as you complete the rest of your prereqs with A’s, I doubt that the single B for calc 3 would be a big deal. Contrary to popular belief, Berkeley does accept people with less than 4.0. I thought I wouldn’t get in because I didn’t have a 4.0, but I got in anyways.
Good luck :D

Are you an international student? With those stats and international pay bracket, they probably wont care if you were a convicted felon.

No,i m an immigrant =(
I dont pay that much
