i hope i have a chance at davidson... i know my SATs are low i think, but they aren't everything rite?

Davidson doesn't set a lot of score by SATs. Meaning it's really hard for them to help you and it's really hard for them to hurt you. If you have a 1500+ (CR & MT), probably will help you; if you have a 1000 (CR & MT) or less, probably could hurt you.

Write a stellar essay, that's my advice -- advice that I would give to anyone -- and pray for good recs.

I would recommend that you apply for ED I or ED II. If you're concerned about test scores, GPA, or any other numerical component of your application, applying early could significantly improve your odds of admission.

I posted earlier about chancing threads and it might interest you to read it.

Seriously, no one can tell you whether or not it's even likely you'll get in. Think of the 1,500 class valedictorians Harvard turned down last year -- what'd they do wrong? Nada. They deserved Harvard. Just...27,000 people applied. They got unlucky.

It's all a numbers game. Good luck to you, though!

Like amplifiar said, admission to almost any school is a crap shoot. No one on here can seriously guess anyones admission decision with any validity. They are just guesses. The best reference is here: College Search - Davidson College - At a Glance

Very important admission factors:
Character/Personal Qualities
Recommendations
Rigor of secondary school record
Volunteer Work

Considered:
Racial/Ethnic Status
Standardized Test Scores
Work Experience

With all of that said, ONLY looking at the numbers you've given, you're in the low range for Davidson. Like amplifiar said, if you apply ED (dont do this on whim - thing about and look into it a lot) your chances are higher.

Eh. It's hard to categorize someone into the "low range" or even "high range." It's all relative and based on soooo many different factors. I wouldn't worry one way or another. Just get your application done, whack out your first semester exams with excellence and keep your fingers crossed.

That said, I wouldn't include on your application that you're an admirer of Halo, that you've got a perfect church attendance record, or that you won a lottery your sophomore year -- Halo's good and dandy ... the boys on my hall surely must think so, considering they ran our electricity bill through the roof this month; church attendance is admirable; lottery is lucky........in any case, I think if you include things like that, it's just going to appear as if you're trying to bulk up your résumé. Better to be well-lopsided than well-rounded if the latter is founded on mere dabbling.
Not too sure Pokémon would fascinate them, either.

I would just be sure that if you play up the video game thing (since it's pretty major) that you're careful. You don't want to sound too absorbed in video games, but at the same time if it's something you're passionate about, make sure you convey that well so you don't sound obsessive or nerdy (this is coming from a diehard Pokémaniac and a MarioKart Fiend).

I would play up the Christian Fellows Scholarship, the community service, clarinet/music (this one's a great one -- they're always looking for musicians) and any awards you've won for music/any performances you've had, and the "set a few school records" part, whatever that is.

hey guys, thanks for your comments! :)
i just thought that they wold be more impressed with more awards and stuff like that.
ill try to boost my scores but yeah, thanks guys!

Not necessarily -- especially not if it's something like winning a lottery. That's total luck and doesn't reflect on your own personal efforts at all. Also, if they don't know what Majora's Mask or Indigo Plateau are, they're going to look them up, and no matter which college you're applying to, not only will they not be impressed, but they're probably not going to care that you beat a video game and they'll just be annoyed that your résumé consists of primarily personal video game prowess. Sad fact of life.
Definitely include honor roll, the computer award, the library award, the music awards, and so on. Those will be viewed as substantial.

I would suggest taking a different SAT Subject Test -- Literature, History, Foreign language -- something that's not a math/science. They recommend that you have one in the math/science area and one in the humanities.

Also, when you say "set a few school records" specify what you mean on your application, otherwise they'll just be like "Uhh...next!"

Not intending to come off as cold, here, but you've got to hear this stuff if you want to raise your chances of getting in.

OP: Your chances of being admitted to Davidson College are well below average, in my opinion. There is nothing in your above posts to suggest otherwise. Your SAT I scores, SAT II scores, class rank, GPA & ECs all work against you.

okay :) thanks guys for the coments
ya, i think davidson is too hard too get in :( ill try Lesley, oberlin and wellesley instead i guess
but thanks for the coments :)

Agree with amplifier about applying ED (though it may be too late for ED I). When they were here for their info session, they said 50% Ed applicants get accepted, as I recall.

Hey guys, How about my chances:

Work experience:

Please someone tells me about my chance!!!!

You are international, so that should probably help. As I've said again and again, chancing is entirely subjective, but you should probably be fine. You'll hear before too much time has passed.

Could you chance me please

And I am applying for Early Decision 2

Please Chance Me!!!!!

Edit: Forgot to mention, I am an international applicant from Nepal.
@amplifiar841: I am sorry, but i am just to eager to know

I think you sound pretty well-rounded. If it's not too late, I would recommend taking the SAT instead of just the ACT (since you're concerned about your score), but if it is, I wouldn't worry too much.

Again, as I've said many times, there really is now way to know, but it helps that you're international, I would imagine; your extra curriculars and other credentials are solid.

At this point, just keep your fingers crossed! (I say this to all applicants!)
