10th grade (in Singapore) : average about 50% -_-;; ahhh!~~ insufficient Eng
11th grade : TOP3
12th grade : Top or second (1/65 or 2/65)
UAI : (Australian University Admission Index) : Predicting 93% ~ 99%

NEW SAT I

I took SAT I only twice, since I had to study both SAT and my school courses which is different from American System.
Questions
1. My main concern is SATI Writing...T-T what can i do?? Plz giv me suggestion about this...
2. Also Maths Extention 2 is equivalent to University second year course. Would I get any advantages??
3. Or being Korean who studided in Singapore but in Australian International Skool, but going to American Uni -_-;;; will help at all???
4. GPA in year 10 is really low. coz I could not speak Eng..well very little.
Would Universities consider this fact?
5. I have exponential curve in my GPA. Will it help?
6. Plz tell me the reasonable skools that i can apply (any uni for reach or safety or match)

My major would be engineering... or maths.

Guys...Thanks for reading long~ posting..

Plz tell truth..T-T I am ready to be dissapointed.. lol..
Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks for reading!
Hav a nice day!!

What schools are you aiming for? Harvard, Yale, UC's, state school?

Your verbal and writing scores are pretty low, but if you do well in the Toefl, you will most likely make up for it.

I am aiming for Perdue, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Washington St.Louis, or at most Cornell........-_- I know this sounds really funny..lol
Am i aiming too high?? T-T coz, i heard that uni wants diversities, and they will consider that my first language is Korean and hav been studied in Eng based system really short periods. Is it true??

~.~
any one can give suggestions??/

looks like u need a hell lot of work with ur english which cud become a prob with adcomm.......
Also they will consider that u have engl as 2nd lang and that also for a short time period but let ur toefl score come.....then only can a fair assessment be made
For the list u suggested :
Purdue: U will get in definetely without any scholarship but
Michigan: I think this would be rather difficult.. Very little chance
Chicago : Same as michigan infact a bit higher only....so extremely little chance
Illinois : Which one : if urbana : very little chance
If IIT : You will get in (90%)depending on other factors
Washington St.Louis : Nope little chance as sat is very imp there
Cornell : <1% chance

The main deterring factors of your application

~~~Really LOW SAT VERBAL AND CRITICAL READING
~~~Extra curriculars okey but not that impresive (this one not detering though)

~~~English language skills as u already say
~~~Korean (lots of highly qualified app frm there)

No offence if i was a bit too harsh........

SM

Honestly, I think those are alright choices, except Cornell. Being a Korean myself, I know MANY Koreans who do superbly well. You probably know who I'm talking about: MINSAGO students! They get SAT scores around 2300 to 2400.... Gd luck!

Thanks all..
T-T were they dat high??
Ah...pretty astonished.. lol
Ya jenni87, of cos, :p they are top top top students in Korea.

However the thing is do all these uni that i hav listed consider writing section?? coz i heard dat some of them does not count writing section, or not dat heavily upon..

I thought since WashU was a midwestern school they care more about the ACTs... at least that's what they told me(I live in Kansas)

Is there any one who has been admitted with low writing scores?? in those unis that i hav listed....

My guess is they will look at the TOEFL and the Math scores.

Now the important question - do you need financial aid?

You need to get yourself a good college counselor. I would reccommend you look at:

University of Rochester (NY)
Clarkson University (NY)
University of Connecticut

Nah;; i do not need financial aids;;

Nah;; i do not need financial aids;; Will it make the chances higher? if i do not sign for financial aids?
