Assignment: Should people make more of an effort to keep things private?

Here is mine:
Pretending not to have the feeling or thought is the way to hide our thought and feelings and to protect ourselves. It is true that people are born to have the inclination of struggling to hide things from others. Nevertheless, I am a heretic about the argument which suggests us to make more of an effort to keep some things private. To some extent, exposing our private matters can utterly be considered as a courageous and valorous action.
In the novel The Kite Runner, the misfortune Hassan has endured has always been the darkest secret of the protagonist, Amir, as he actually witnesses what Hassan has undergone but doesn’t do anything. Several decades later, Amir has grown up into a cultivated adult while Hassan has already passed away in Afghanistan. Recounting the backdoor past over and over, Amir finally decide to reveal the truth to his friends and family. He tells his wife that on that dim afternoon in Kabul, he spotted the bully boys maltreating Hassan but didn’t do anything to stop them. Amir has made such an arduous effort to keep the gloomy past private, which, indeed, made the feeling of regret and ashamed haunted through years.
Therefore uncovering those “private” instead of striving to hide them is an approach to offset our regret, to face the past and to gain courage. What’s more, disclosing our private issues can even be beneficial to the society.
For Winfrey Oprah, the pioneer in American talk show, the experience of being raped and the period as an adolescent pregnant are the darkest matters in her life. Like Amir, she also strived to keep these private, even by deceiving and denying to family and public. Lastly under the accusation of the public and her relatives, she decided to face the past directly. Oprah held a talk show about rape of women, and talked about her gloomy foretime. Happily her bold behavior aroused a great number of raped women to stand out and face their past bravely, which rose serious concern in the society.
In conclusion, speaking out our private things is not exposing our specks, on the contrary, is obtaining courage and guts for self and for others. Therefore, we do not need to keep some things so private that they may be able to ruin our life unconsciously.

It’ll be fantastic if some one can grade it and make a comment~^^
