PLZ HELP community or 4 year college for best transfer

ok well basically i got into a 4 year college, that is a city college in new york called YORK college and it is not very reputable, and usually considered one of the worst 4 year colleges in new york city

my plan is to transfer as soon as possible, weather it be in 1 year or 2, as soon as i can, and i dont want to just transfer to a decent school, im aiming for columbia or cornell, now i need to know which would be a better option, me going to a 4 year college that isnt very good and maintianing good grades, like 3.5-3.8 gpa OR going to a community college which i got into (bmcc), which is considered the best community college in new york city and having 3.8-4.0 gpa. Which of those 2 options would give me the best chance of getting into cornell or columbia

Also my major will be in science either physics or chemistry, and i am pretty confident that i can maintain those grades stated above.

basically i need to know if what would have a better chance of getting into those colleges:

having a 3.3-3.36 gpa in one of the worst 4 year colleges in new york city

OR

having a 3.8-4.0 gpa in one of the best community colleges in the city

all other factors such as transportation, social environment, etc.... should not be considered because they do not matter to me making my decision.

PLEASE HELP my decision is due soon

having a 3.8-4.0 gpa in a 4 year colleges will be the best way. And you will need a high sat score to get into cornell or columbia.

i duno about a 4.0 gpa in a science major like chem at a 4 year, i think i can do a 3.6 or 3.7 in chem at teh 4 year and probably 4.0 or very close at the community

Does the community college have any kind of transfer agreements with colleges that might interest you? (not just your reaches, others which are match or safety)

What is the community colleges success rate in students transferring out to schools that interest you? I would discuss these things with a transfer advisor at the community college before making a decision.

I don’t know what SEANKIM is basing his opinion on. But if top NY schools have a history of students from a top cc succeeding at their school, that could be important.

As a current student at BMCC, I can tell you that someone lied to you. BMCC is not the best CC in NYC, in fact NYC does not have a best CC. The whole CUNY system is horrible from the fin-aid, faculty, etc.

Also, do not make the assumption that you will get a higher GPA at BMCC vs. a lower GPA at the senior colleges. BMCC has their fair share of bad professors and good ones. You will encounter professors that will challenge you and make you work for your grade, or you may encounter professors who are plain horrible and will allow you to fail by not sharing your progress with you. You will also encounter a ton of annoying adjuncts from NYU that will remind you how much they are better then you because they graduated from NYU.

Not to mention BMCC is so greedy, they have accepted more students then they can fill seats for, to the point where they opened registration early. For the most part, the majority of the classes are already filled. Icing on the cake, they raised tuition and lowered both my TAP and NY state scholarship money.

To sum it all up stay clear away from BMCC, if I were you. Go to City College, it is better then York.

well i wish i could apply to more colleges no, but its past deadline, if i knew back then what i learned in these past few days i would have applied to different colleges, but so far my choices are york and bmcc, i dont really care about professors or aid, or any of that i just want to know what would look better on a transfer application, a very good gpa from a 4 year or a near 4.0 gpa from a community.
