<p>Is it on the first floor? or second?</p>

<p>and, for the 18 meal plan, does that include breakfast? and (since I wake up at 11, 12 at most times), can we refund some of the meals? </p>

<p>It's on one of the mezzanines, which is like a half floor, about half a staircase up. I'm not sure whether it's on the front, the north mezzanine, or the back, the south mezzanine. I'm in room 104 next year, which is on the north mezzanine. The mezzanines tend to be quieter and there's about 7-9 rooms in each of them. I like them because you're either half a staircase away from the dining room or the front door.</p>
<p>You can't refund meals because they don't keep track of how many you take from the dining room. The meals include breakfast, but they're from 7 to 9:30. I usually wake up, get breakfast, and then go back to sleep.</p>
<p>Are you going to orientation? If you are, contact Marion Scher beforehand and see if you can plan a tour some time during orientation. She'll probably even show you your room next year.</p>
<p>Okay, because I thought that 101 was on the first floor. I don't like living on first floor. So it's good new for me. AND, we're just 2 rooms away from each other! =D how many floors does martha cook have? </p>
<p>The breakfast is SO early... I was thinking if i can get a friend to get up early on some days and get breakfast for me? And then we can alternate days so we don't all have to get up so early everyday.. but that's just a thought for now </p>
<p>oh and about orientation. i guess i'm going since it ismandatory. do you know where we sign up? and i recall that we have to pay for the tour..</p>
<p>Oh, yay! I'm excited that we're going to be living close together! Martha cook has four floors, and the 2 mezzanines are wedged in there. Oh, just a warning: The only problem with the mezzanines is that they don't have an elevator that goes to them so you have to haul things up half a staircase. Just keep that in mind while packing.
About breakfast: I suppose you should figure out your schedule first, then you can decide how early you need to get up, hehe. But I do always try to schedule classes to start 11 or later.
They should send you something in the mail about orientation. You have to pay for it. International orientation is just before classes start.</p>
<p>hey, my parents asked me today if the meals are fixed. that is, is there no alternative other than the 18 meal plan? i think some other dorms have flexibility. Do all residents in Cook have to be in the 18 meals/week system? </p>

<p>All Martha Cook residents have the same plan. It's kind of hard to describe how it's different till you experience it. The food is different and just there, you don't really keep track of who goes into the dining room when.</p>
<p>i see... also, i was wondering when class registration start. Do we sign in into the U of Michigan (after orientation) first, then we sign up for classes? Is it better to sign up for classes as early as possible? If so, when does registration start?</p>
<p>What classes do I have to take (i'm accepted into the LSA for first year)? How many credits do I need to enrol into the Ross Business School? </p>

<p>Not to be terribly snide blissful, but perhaps now is the time for you to change your sleeping habits. In the real working world noontime is about half a day on the job. Best of luck to you on your upcoming year. :-)</p>
<p>..seriously?! in hong kong (where i live), most stores don't even open until 11 or 10. probably its different in the US. but in hk stores open till pretty late. haha and yes, i sleep pretty late at night. </p>

<p>I was accepted into Martha Cook, but I also applied to some of the Learning Communities.... how academically useful are the learning communities, and is it wise to decline the acceptance into Martha Cook (even though I totally love it and its beautiful:) ) since I may get more educational opportunitites in a Learning Community. Also, how many freshman are there in Martha Cook?? Thanks!</p>
<p>apne123: yay! you're accepted into martha cook too. i know that cook has honors housing but not so sure about the learning communities ( i'm not in one of them). i wouldn't decline the martha cook housing because those dorms are truly beautiful. people say it is the best women dorm on campus. there are approx. 144 students in that dorm. i choose to live there because i think its much mroe quiet (helps studying), there's a library across, and its located in the central campus (where most classes are held). </p>
<p>i was also wondering about those learning communities. i applied to the honors but they haven't replied to me yet... :S and if someone can answer the Q by apne123 about how good/useful they are, that would be great too.

<p>Yep, LSA! How about you? I just got my lease faxed over to me today... apparently I am in 416 (guessing thats on the fourth floor). Did you find out who your roomate is? With regards to the honors program try emailing them about the status of you application.</p>

<p>Nope... I really hope its a freshman though :) Do you know when you are going to orientation? Also, do you know if Martha Cook has people (like RA's and such) that help freshman through the first few weeks?</p>
<p>I'm probably going to orientation right before classes start. you? I am not sure if Martha cook has people that help us around during our first weeks (not that I've heard of). But if not in martha cook, i'm also definite that there are people like that around the campus. just don't know where to find them yet..</p>
<p>There's a little sister big sister thing in Martha Cook where all the freshmen are assigned to an older Cookie. There's also lots of activities for getting to know people the first couple weeks. None of these things are mandatory, but a lot of girls participate in them.</p>
<p>How much does it cost for a doubles room at Martha cook? when is the deadline for application and when do u find out if you have been accepted? I tried calling but they never answer.</p>
<p>Scorpio08: A double costs 9,968 and that includes 18 meals per week. I dont think there is a deadline... I applied last weekend and found out by this past thursday/friday :)
Blissful: I havent yet decided when I am going to orientation... do u know if there is any benefit to going earlier in terms of signing up for classes? I am pretty sure that I am staying at Martha Cook next year... Can't wait!</p>

<p>apne123: about signing up for classes, i asked in the forum but no one replied me about that... i'm sure i'm staying at martha cook next year too! the dorms are nice and i like the place. about the orientation stuff, i will figure that out during the summer. right now preparing for exams.</p>
