<p>i believe it should be "everyone but carolyn and he" because it is the subject of the noun clause, i could be wrong.</p>

"everybody but me"
vs.
"everybody but I"?</p>
<p>^ I think the phrase could be translated to "everybody except ___ " Then it would be 'me' since it's the object of a preposition. </p>
<p>That would be my guess. I'm kinda bad at these things though.</p>
