Could anyone fill me in on what PNP (philosophy-neuroscience-psychology) really is? What is it like as a PNP major? What are the differences between PNP and regular psychology or neuroscience?

^^I'd definitely like to know as well. im visiting again this upcoming weekend so I'll hopefully sit down with someone to explain it better too so i might bring back some info :)

I'll preface this by saying I know nothing about PNP (I'm a bio kid), but here might be a good place to start:

Have fun visiting! : )

I'm an accepted student who's very interested in PNP. I'd also like to hear from current students, so I'm bumping this up.

Also, there's that program for freshman and sophomores, Mind, Brain and Behavior. How do you actually get into that; I know supposedly anyone can sign up, but is there anyway to make sure you get it? I asked a Wash U admissions rep who visited my school about this, and she said it's largely kind of first-come, first-served but she wasn't 100% sure... if it does work this way, does that give the advantage in getting into MBB to those who file their deposits early? Ie, if I really want to do this program if I chose Wash U (which I do), should I make my choice as to whether to come to Wash U as soon as possible and try and get my deposit in quickly?

bump... info please.

bump......

My daughter is a freshman in the PNP program and is in the Mind, Brain, Behavior program as well. She is very happy with both. Mind, Brain, Behavior is a a two year program that is offered with the other freshman seminars. During the first year, you take one class each semester. During the second year, you do research.

During the summer prior to your freshman year, you will receive an information packet about all the freshman seminars. Mind, Brain, Behavior is one of them. I am not sure whether it is first come, first served or whether merit has anything to do with it. However, look for the packet and be ready to respond ASAP.

Hi all. I'm a current freshman, and I am currently planning on majoring in PNP. Basically, you have to take intro classes in psych, philosophy, and cognitive science. Then, there are two separate tracks: language, cognition, and culture or cognitive neuroscience. I am thinking of doing research as a career, but some people planning to go to medical school major in it as well.

What kinds of courses satisfy the cognitive science part? Which track is easier and/or more interesting?

Also, everyone I've talked to has told me that completing the PNP major is very difficult. Is that true?

How is the Mind, Brain, and Behavior program similar to the PNP major?
