Nice recommendations, thanks! Perhaps I should speed up my 5k running to go with that shorter duration. Usually I like “Freakonomics”, closer to 40 minutes. I can dream, can’t I?

Revisionist History has a bunch of seasons. Fascinating topics.

As “Inflation”, “Recession”, “Stagflation”, “The Fed”, “Debt Levels”, “Home Prices” take center stage in 2022 and impact nearly everyone, whether they like it or not,

Consider these 4 for Economics and Markets:
MacroVoices
Grant’s Current Yield
Eurodollar University
Super Investors

Thanks, 88jm19 for the specific recs! I’ve started to get a little tired of the podcasts I’ve had on steady rotation for a few years and think I need to mix them up. Some financial stuff would be good!!

I have listened to some retirement planning podcasts in past, including I think the “Retirement Starts Today Radio” show mentioned in link. Others look interesting too

Thanks, Colorado_mom! I’ve followed a few of them, based on the article!

Twenty thousand Hertz - all about sound, which seems like it would be boring but it’s fascinating. If you’re not sure, try the Dies Irae and Wilhelm Scream episodes.

Torched - Behind the scenes Olympic scandals.

Noble Blood - who knew that the history of royalty was so vicious!

Cheat - how do people get away with this stuff. In the end, they don’t.

Scamfluencers - similar to Cheat. Lots of people have no conscience.

Just started listening to Fly on the wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade - good one for fans of SNL.

On my walk this morning I finally checked out the first Archetypes podcast with Meghan Markle. The episode is called The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams.

First, let me state my personal opinion concerning both of them. I went into the podcast with ambivalent feelings towards MM…and frankly, as a long time tennis fan, never cared much for Serena until I attended a US Open, a few years ago. (The short story is I sat next to a woman who was a huge Serena fan. She had driven from KY and saved to make the trip with her husband. This couple’s fandom convinced me to reevaluate my Serena bias. Glad I did.)

Second, I enjoyed the podcast much more than I thought I would. It touched on topics we discuss here on CC. They reflected on their personal experiences and discussed societal expectations. It seemed like a pleasant chat between friends - two famous people, I personally have no emotional investment in, but who are sharing their feelings on topics that I actually find interesting. One can listen…or not.

Anyway, I did like Archetypes enough that I look forward to listening to the next episode.

I mentioned on another thread, but thanks to Colorado_mom’s suggestion above, I’ve been listening to a number of episodes of Listen to The Retirement Answer Man, award-winning podcast — The Retirement Answer Man®

The host is not too annoying (not a lot of strained chit chat or attempts at humor like so many others ) - he provides useful information in a relatively engaging and understandable fashion. I’m pretty new to retirement concepts/exploration, so some of his stuff may be too basic for many of the already-knowledgeable here on CC! I like that often goes beyond money/investments and talks about quality of life…

A family favorite (one we all agree to listen to during long car rides) is:

How I Built This

Just a wonderful show that interviews the founders of famous products, organizations, services, etc…

I will list some favorite episodes below (no particular order). If you see a familiar name that interests you then I heartily encourage you to listen to that episode. I think you’ll be hooked. We started with Ben & Jerry’s and never looked back… You’d be amazed how many famous “success stories” were very nearly failures.

Ben & Jerry’s ice cream
Teach for America
Dyson vacuums
Rick Steves Europe
FUBU
Burton Snowboards
Khan Academy
Ring Doorbell
Sam Adams beers
Wikipedia
Whole Foods
Wayfair
Jimmy Fallon
Crate & Barrel
Springfree trampolines
Tempur Pedic mattresses

Thanks for the reminder about Retirement Answer Man. Coincidentally I’m involved with planning at church for Legacy discussions and a possible Estate Planning workshop after church. I’ve downloaded the recent Legacy discussions.

“In the Land of Lies” is superb! I don’t enjoy most crime podcasts, because they are usually too gory. This one is all about amazing twists and turns in the investigation. The journalist does a great job.

If you didn’t list to Dirty John, you might like it.

It isn’t the usual disgusting stuff like blood, locking people up, sex crimes, beatings, etc… is it?

My favorites are trying to solve a challenging mystery, like “The Cooper Vortex”, where no one gets physically hurt.

Alternatively, I can handle it when the crime is bad, but the gory details are avoided and something like “shot once” is the extent of it and then the mystery goes on with all the twists and turns.
If it is like that I’ll give Dirty John a try.

I can’t recommend Anderson Cooper’s new podcast on grief highly enough:

Not gory. Just fascinating. Con man…

Sounds good. I’ll listen. Cheers

I really don’t like true crime podcasts, but this one is PHENOMENAL!! it is not gory (although the crime was terrible). It’s the story of John List, a mild mannered accountant who meticulously planned the murder of his family and mother, and then he disappeared. The police never gave up, and after 20 years were able to track him down, remarried to an unsuspecting wife. The production is amazing, and the reporters interview pretty much everyone involved. It had me on the edge of my seat for 8 hours as I drove back from Virginia. Its the audio equivalent of a page turner that you can’t put down!
