Although it is too late to create a club in my school this year, I was thinking of making a poetry slam club next year. We members of the club would compose poetry and recite our poems every month or so. We would also attend the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam (perhaps even more slams; this is the only one for teens I know of).
The idea of a poetry slam is a new concept for me, which is why I came to CC to ask for any thoughts from fellow CCers for suggestions on how to better formulate my scheme of creating a club centered on poetry slams. So…any advice/tips/input?

If I were any better at English, I would totally do this. I wish someone at my school would start this so I could get to enjoy it. Just go for it; go get people who are interested and start meeting up. You can start now, so that you can make it official start of next school year.
Good luck!
That sounds like a really neat idea. I don’t have any advice about starting a club, but there is a week-long poetry slam summer camp for high school students in Minnesota at Gustavus Adolphus College that might help you come up with some ideas if you could go (or even just from perusing their website and the topics that they cover at the camp)
Scholarships at UW-Madison for spoken word artists!
That’s a really good idea! I put the links to some poetry national poetry competitions below.

Thanks, everyone, for the cool resources and the nice wishes!
