I got 4's on my Calculus and Chemistry exams, but 800 and 780 on my SAT IIs in those courses. Will submitting the (relatively) low AP scores actually hurt my chances?

Did you take those AP courses? If you did, it would look strange not to submit those scores. You’ll be fine with 4s, sometimes it’s more reflective of rigor of your school’s AP courses. Did you get As in those courses?

… what is the world coming to when a freaking FOUR is considered a “low AP score”? Unless your college only accepts a 5 for AP credit, something is seriously wrong with this mentality.

(Okay, upon reread, I accept that it might be considered “relatively” low if you got perfect and near-perfect SAT scores. I would still submit them; I agree that it would look weird not to, and come on, a 4’s not a bad score by any means of measurement)

I have the same question. I received a 3 on my AP Lang exam and a B- in the class. Should I bother sending in my score?

Submit the scores. In short, they don’t matter for admission and it would look worse to not submit them, because most people not submitting either didn’t take the course or got scores that actually are bad, not a score that translates into “well qualified for college credit.”

No, I didn’t take the AP courses; I just took the exams after self-studying them.

A 4 from self study is very impressive! Be sure to let the colleges/universities know that you did this on your own time.

Do look up the scores necessary for credit/placement at each of the colleges/universities that you are applying to. If you can get credit/placement for these exam results, it will free time in your schedule for classes that are more interesting for you.
