Can acting majors ever audition for Musicals?

MTinfinity- I know I’m not StepInTime, but when i filled out my form, I was able to request Lawrence. I guess they changed it for this year? I don’t see why they would though.

typecast - Of.Course. acting majors are allowed to audition for the musicals. There are some occasions where the acting majors will be the lead!

Thank you that will help me figure out which school to choose.

I am looking at a couple schools and not sure which to decide.

What has influenced you to apply to Point Park?

If you are a Point Park MT student currently, what influenced you to pick Point Park against other schools?

I would love any advice or info y’all can give :)

Somewhat random question:

My son will be looking at college acting programs in the coming year (rising HS Junior). He has a considerable amount of acting experience (mostly professional) and is a very strong singer. He most likely will be looking at acting programs over musical theater. However, we are interested to know if students who are admitted to the acting program ever get the opportunity to participate in musical productions?

AdaQ- Yes, at Point Park we were told MT’s and Actors cross over all the time. This is a very good question to ask everywhere, however, as it’s not always the case. Some schools have a serious wall between the majors.

It says on PPU’s website that a double major is “Not recommended” in COPA, however even though its not recommended is it at all possible to double major with one major being either MT or acting and the other being in another school within the college?

xokmvx23, I am in the musical theater program right now, and for most students its quite difficult to get all of the COPA classes scheduled let alone a double major. If you would like to extend it past a 4 year program there is a slight chance but our schedules keep us very busy and if you get cast i would say it is near impossible.

I feel silly asking a question because I’m a student at PPU, but for those of you who are Dance Minors, what are the course requirements? I believe it’s 18 extra credits, but what classes do you have to take?
