I am applying to UCSD this year, and I was made VERY anxious because of some of the posts made here. There was a post that said ucsd score was how to add up your score to find out if you get into UCSD. The cut off last year was apparently 7742 points or somewhere around that.

If this spreadsheet is correct, then are sports and summer internships not factored in? Moreover, are sports not counted when they evaluate you? How do you attend 40 UC eligible classes? that means you have to have taken at least 10 classes per year at the minimum to get in.

Sorry if this seems like I'm overstressing and overthinking this, but I really want to get in. Can someone prove the validity of this supposed post?

Don’t stress that much, If you’re from cal, the standard for the point system is a lot lower than that of an OOS/international student. From what I heard, while the point system is a key deciding factor, it’s not absolute- The essays also play a very imperative role in your acceptance.

Just two quick questions–does anyone know how UCSD factors in sports and internships? Because I had an internship over the summer, and I have participated in sports for 4 years. Will that help me in any way?

Also, does anyone know how they factor in the ACT with writing? Because I’ve heard the English score with the essay, although your composite score may not change, may still be higher than someone without the writing score. For example, someone with an 11 on the essay but with a composite of 34 would be given higher points rather than someone with an 8 on an essay but with a composite of 34, correct?

If anyone could answer those questions, that’d be great. Thanks a lot!

@Wintersnow2415, Thanks for the reassurance. Hope I can get in!

i have aa question.
due to my school excellence in the API scores for the CST… we were given the option of having a 4X4 schedule? so does this affect us more because we wont have the 50+ we need …//???/
