So in this thread we either discuss about pointless classes that we feel that are useless, or subjects that are actually decent/worthwhile but the class/teacher screws it up. Either way, it's a waste of time.

I'm sure most of us have at least one or two of them, unless we go to top-notch schools or have incredibly lucky teachers.

I'll start with French II - the actual subject can be useful, as it is a language after all. However, the teacher teaches the class...nothing. We never learn any grammar, new useful vocabulary, and so on - our entire curriculum is based on a novel, all we do is read that thing daily. Ouch. We don't even have a textbook. Eh...shatters my hopes of actually planning to learn the language, I guess I should look at a couple websites instead.

Chemistry - Again, it's less of the actual usefulness of the subject itself as much as how the teacher sucks really bad at teaching nothing.

Precalculus - I don't know about your school, but at mine this is a completely worthless course as you don't learn anything but review AlgII/Trig and in a boring way. Surprisingly in this case, it's vice versa - the teacher's a decent teacher, but the subject doesn't click.

That's probably it. AP World has a decent teacher, but the actual content is boring - but it's not as bad. English is just english.

I'm at 3/5 minimum (looking at it from a generous/optimistic perspective) of uselessness in my 5 core academic classes. More sleeping time, I guess.

All history (USELESS... Why should i care how the US and or Europe came to be???)
All english (I say we stop this at 8th grade haha... but then again some people li3k t0 t4lk nd sp3ak lkie dis)

Health.
I can't believe I have to waste my time to test out of this class.

FST (Functions Statistics Trigonometry)
Once again, a complete waste of time. Our district has this between AII and Pre-Calc. BS.
Have to waste some more time testing out of this....

Almost any history class.
Nuff said.

Honors Physical Science
Our district has 9th graders taking phys sci instead of AP Biology. We do like nothing in this class. Teacher is great but class sucks. Ironically she prefers teaching AP Bio. Lol.

Honors English 9
Eh.........we need more writing-paper-essay assignments, and more grammar review/vocab.
They should let us take AP Lit or AP English in 9th grade. There is like no focus in this class.

Regular Biology Class.
This the only science class you can take in 10th grade in our district. I have to waste some more time testing out of this so I can do AP Physics/AP Chem.
ugh........

"Business"
This class sucks. Period. AP Micro/Macro econ is more useful than spending half an hour explaining that price correlates with supply/demand. -_-

"Computer Skills"
Its a requirement. Its a complete waste.
Ooooooh great, 3 months of typing and learning to make a word document.

Any of the "Intro" classes that teach common sense, but with terms added.

Certain theology classes. Sure, it's nice to learn about others' faiths, but theology (at least at my school) neither encourages thought nor brings me closer to God. Memorizing a crapload of information about sin or Jesus or whatever is just useless.

health. defiantly. i can only learn about the same drugs so many times, and im pretty sure the male and female reproductive systems arent gonna go switching anything up on me, so the first time we learned everything was good enough.

Most History courses - don't care, I did like World History though. US History was boring as hell.

Chemistry - ruined by bad teacher. Subject matter is interesting though.

Civics - common sense. Already knew most of the stuff. Again, wasted 4 hours a day for a month during the summer for this one.

Accounting - took it because I'm going into business, but boring and common sense

Computer Keyboarding - required at my school freshman year. Wasted 4 hours a day the summer before my freshman year to get out of this class. But the thing is, I know how to type already :( What a waste.

English- I love the subject. It's my favorite subject, the class on the other hand is stupid and worthless. If I have to learn what a predicate is once more I think I'm going to blow a socket. At least I can take AP next year.

Health- Seriously? We've had this already. Do I need it again? My district won't even allow students to test out.

All required tech credits at my school- I can type profciently and use a Word Doc, is this really that essential?

History- I like the subject, much like English, but all the teachers I have had can't teach it.

other pointless classes: digital photo 1 and 2 at my school. if you already know how to use a camera, these classes are a waste. we dont even do any crits. i took them because i plan on majoring in photography, but they were pretty much study halls for me. our school needs a darkroom so badly.

sewing 1- our school requires 1 semester of practical arts to graduate (this includes cooking classes, childhood development classes, and sewing classes. i dont look forward to my second quarter class). i already knew how to sew, so i just made a dress and a pair of pants and ate waffles every class.

Can't forget about that semester of "Global Perspectives" I was required to take last year. I learned nothing.

"Class, today we're going to learn where Spain is. Does anyone know what continent Spain is on? OH WAIT! Class, can you tell me how many continents there are?"

i assume global perspectives is similar to comparative world studies? i enjoy cws, plus its a major GPA boost for me. i currently have a 100, nothin wrong with that.

My school has remedial classes, but there are students in my honors classes that should probably even be at in remdial.

At least it's not like another school in my district that has instituted the policy that teachers cannot get students transfered out of their class.
