<p>Yeah. You can even ask the people how many points you got and how far from the cutoff you were. It helps for appeals.</p>

<p>Its certainly not completely impossible for that to happen. There seems to be more leeway in terms of what the adcoms can do with a weaker application at LA/Cal whereas at SD what they can do is certainly much more restricted. You must've read before about the guy that got into Cornell/UCLA/UCB, but not UCSD (he went to my school), so yeah, not totally out of the question. Still, though, the majority of applicants will find that the difficulty goes by their rankings, with LA ~ Cal if you aren't black.</p>
