I have a deep desire for the medical field, so obviously these combined programs are calling me out. However, I know I am dismally underprepared against my competition judging by the fact that 400 people apply to Michigan State's BS/MD and only 10 are accepted. I am not going to get in.

-Around 200 hours in hospital volunteering, I witness alot of operations and stuff, but I don't think I'm supposed to

-Tennis Team 2 years so far
-Various drama productions
-NHS (LOL)

I'm just posting this because I'm bored and I'd like to know if I should even set in my consciousness the possibility of getting into one of these programs. I'm eyeing Michigan State University and Wayne State University in-state as well as Boston Unviersity (LOL^10) out of state.

The process a lot of these programs use to select people for interviews/acceptances seem random. I doubt anyone on here could tell you definitively whether or not you have a chance. But it's always a good idea to apply because there's a possibility that you could get in. I think your stats are good, and people with lower stats have gotten into MSU and WSUs programs. The same goes for people with better stats. You obviously have a desire to go into medicine that is (hopefully) disconnected from your background of being Indian. Well, I think you're indian, based on your previous posts lol. Anyway, my point is, don't put yourself down for failure before you even start applying.

You have a good chance. I think after a certain point, GPA and scores are not as important. I would say, as one Indian to another, you should find something interesting and unusual to pursue and dedicate ALL your energies toward it. Don't worry about how many clubs or activities you're doing. Having tons of clubs with little involvement shows poor character. Focus on 1-2 clubs/activities/interests, and get the best grades/scores possible. Then work and rework your essays to be as interesting as possible. I really like the drama stuff you have going there, keep that up. I don't know too many Indians doing that, and that will definitely help you stand out.

So, basically, have 1) an unusual devoted passion 2) strong GPA/scores 3) very good essays (revise, revise!) 4) a hell of a lot of luck.

Really in the end, you do need some luck as well. Competition for these programs is only increasing because more and more programs are cutting down seats. Also, make sure medicine is the right and ONLY path for you. There can't be any wavering. If there is, go to regular undergrad seriously. You will regret getting into a program if your only motivation is your parents want you to do medicine. If you want some more advice, you can always PM me although be warned that I check PMs only occasionally.

I do have a production company in the works, we are going to make documentaries and stuff and based on the public response that we have gotten already, it should be pretty sweet.

I am realizing, possibly too late, what you are saying about finding something unique because that is what sets you apart.

The problem is that in my enviornemnt, my parents aren't strict at all btu they dont go for anything other than good grades.

They would not support what I'm doing, but I'm doing it anyways.

I also forgot to mention that I am a member of city government and regularly attend city council meetings, public safety meetings, and have a real say. It is pretty cool, but not a deal mover.
