Pol science major?

hey, I'm going to be a freshmen this upcoming year and I wanted to major in biology and go to dental school. However, I'm interested in Pol Science also. So, is it a wise idea to major in pol. science while doing all the pre-reqs w/o being overloaded??

sure. as far as i know, pre-dental and pre-med are the same courses, and u can do any major u want while fulfilling those requirements.

Yup. You’re going to have to work hard though because poli sci is not a easy major.

It’ll help you for Verbal. It’s funny how that according to one chart I saw from AAMC, Biology major actually scored lowest in Verbal. Hmm.

I am not sure why, but I have a theory about this: It is because a much higher percentage of Biology majors apply to medical schools!

If the top 60 percents of the students from the department X apply to medical schools, but only the top 5 percents of the students from the department Y do the same, it is only natural that the average verbal score of the students from the department X will likely be lower than that of the students from the department Y. This would be the case even when the caliber of a typical student from the department X is slightly higher.

Students with an intense humanity major (e.g., English, Classic, Philosophy?) may be better than typical Biology students in their reading skill, thus a higher MCAT verbal score. It may be just because s/he reads more in her/his college career.

I could be wrong though, as this is just my speculation.

^ vouch. It would make sense that an English major would generally score higher than a Bio major on the Verbal.
