I know that the poli comm major is more competitive than GW's general admittance rate, but does anyone know how much more? If I'm coming from a competitive high school on long island with a 2310 sat and a 96.5 uw average, should I have trouble getting into this program or receiving merit money? Also, if I don't get into policomm, am I still considered for arts&sciences or is a rejection from one an automatic rejection from the other? I'd really appreciate any feedback :)

i think you're good. maybe some money

My daughter is a freshman majoring in Political Communications. We were told they only accept 35-50 students per year. She loves it. Good luck!

My son applied ED for Poli Com, and didn't get in. They only took 6 of the ED applicants.... they told us he was one of the 30 finalists... but, regretably, wasn't chosen. He's hoping to reapply as a soph. He was very disappointed, and really took away some of the thrill of acceptance. But he's in Arts & Sciences, so that's something.

i got into poli comm this year w/ significantly lower stats. i was told its all about the ECs and your essay, though

oh and merit aid isnt at all related to getting into SMPA... just so you know... its only about your scores and GPA

i applied poli comm...and i believe my chances will be like .000000001 of getting accepted. but if what you say is true, 1hand1hope, then it might change to maybe .000000005...hahaha

GWU is my dream.

indeed, from what i have heard, admission to poli comm is heavily contingent upon political ECs/interest and writing ability.

did anyone else apply to poli comm?
