POLI / PHIL 27 Discussions

<p>Are classes for POLI/PHIL 27 mandatory? If they are, is it possible to switch discussion times? I had to sign up for an 8am discussion time, so I was wondering if some alternative would be possible. Thanks!</p>

<p>yes the discussions are all mandatory since they take attendance in each one. That how they factor in the attendance grade</p>

<p>I took it in spring 2007 and heres what the grading looks like:</p>

Paper: There will be two writing assignments in this class. The first paper will be four pages long and will be worth 20% of your final grade; the second paper will be six pages long and will be worth 30% of your final grade. You will be provided with topics and guidelines for your papers at least a week before their respective due dates. </p>

<p>Exams: There will be two exams in this class: one short in-class exam on April 30, and a final exam on the scheduled exam date, June 14. The short exam will be worth 15% of your final grade, and the final exam will count toward 25% of your grade. </p>

<p>Section Attendance & Participation: 10% of your final grade will be based on your attendance and performance in discussion section.

<p>I’m taking it right now (Winter 09)… There are two papers (each is six pages long). The first paper is 20%, the second is 30%, the final is 40%, and attendance is 10%.</p>
