Poli Sci and PreLaw at CAS?

Is there a Poli Sci major at CAS? I was looking through their list and it wasn't there; however, it was on the list for Stern Undergrad.

Also, I read on their website that they have a Pre-Law program for undergrads at CAS. Can anyone tell me anything about it from experience/research? Is it open to all CAS undergrads or did you have to apply to enroll into the program?

high_jumper,

1) Previous post with some info about poli sci at NYU:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1112010-political-science-nyu-vs-usc.html

2) Read what NYU CAS website states about “Pre-Law:”

[The Prelaw Curriculum, CAS Prelaw | NYU](Prelaw)

Poli Sci at NYU is called Politics in CAS. Note: Just a warning, Politics at NYU is very different from other colleges because here at NYU, Politics is mathematically approached. Statistics, game theory, median voters, graphs, etc. All you need to know is pretty basic algebra however I know that some potential students find a mathematically inclined approach to Politics to be a bit dissuasive.

As for Pre-Law, there is a Pre-Law Society open to all that holds events, you’re also allowed to shadow a current attorney in your particular field of interest and they also offer special discounts on LSAT classes.

Here is the info on Pre-law Society:

[NYU ULS](http://www.nyu.edu/clubs/uls/)

Also, you can sign up for the PreLaw Listserve:

[Join the Prelaw Listserve, CAS Prelaw | NYU](Prelaw)

^^ For the Pre-law Society/Listserve, is this something I should be signing up now (accepted and planning to enroll) or should I wait till I actually attend the college.

Since you have been accepted and you have a NYU email account, you should be able to sign up. Won’t hurt so you can be informed as to events that will be announced and you will get a feel for what is offered to Pre-Law students at NYU.

Worst case scenario, they will not put your name on listserve, but if you have NYU email, that really should not be the case.
