Police: Yale student, a bride-to-be, disappears

“Binge drinking” refers to the consumption of copious amounts of alcoholic beverages in a short period of time, contrasted to the “typical alcoholic pattern” of habitual consumption over a longer term. Alcohol problems on college campuses are usually associated with binge drinking and not classic alcoholism.

Pat Brown, the former FBI criminal profiler, was on one of the morning news shows today. She said, in essence, that if Ms. Le is not a runaway bride, then the only other option is foul play.

From all of the reporting I have read and heard, Ms. Le does not strike me as one who has the attention-seeking propensity to be a runaway bride.

Prayers for her, her family, friends, and those who are searching for her.

the news is reporting that a professor is under suspicion. He had cancelled a class that she was in about that time as well–I think in that same building there was a fire drill. What does anyone know about this?

I haven’t heard that - where did you read that? I just can’t stop thinking about this poor girl and her fiance and her parents. I usually don’t follow these missing persons stories, but because it happened where my freshman S now lives, I find myself wanting to follow it closely. So so scary and sad…

I heard that this morning on the news on MSNBC. This broadcast said the professor was being questioned and was “under suspicion.”

[Professor questioned by police in case of missing Yale student Annie Le](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2009/09/12/2009-09-12_professor_questioned_by_police_in_case_of_missing_yale_student_annie_le.html)

The NY tabloids—www.nypost.com and [New York News, Traffic, Sports, Weather, Entertainment and Gossip - NY Daily News](http://www.nydailynews.com) are both reporting that one of Ms. Le’s professors is being questioned by police, purportedly because he cancelled a class on Tuesday, the day she went missing.

One would only imagine that everyone in her sphere of proximity is being questioned.

I find it quite troubling that there is no apparent evidence of Ms. Le’s exiting the building. That suggests to me that either she is still in the building and is the victim of foul play, or that someone took her out of the building, and she is still the victim of foul play.

This is a terribly sad story.

Regarding the fire alarm on Tuesday…

I can’t cite a news source, but I heard several reports yesterday that the fire alarm was a false alarm allegedly caused by excess steam in a lab. The report went on to say that the alarm seemed to be completely accidental, and the alarm system didn’t appear to have been tampered with in any way. Authorities have allegedly discounted it as related in any way to the disappearance of Ms. Le.

On an interesting note… (if I find the source I’ll post it)
3 of Ms. Le’s “lab team” of 8 are said to be students. When the media contacted each of the 3 to inquire if they knew if anyone had actually seen Ms. Le on Tuesday after her card was swiped at the facility around 10:00 am on Tuesday, each refused to comment. I suspect that law enforcement has asked them not to speak to the media. They may hold important clues.

I pary that Ms. Le is found unharmed, but it doesn’t look positive at the present.

This is very disturbing and sad. I also heard this morning about the Yale professor being questioned - it was on the radio newscast. I agree that the fire alarm and the class being cancelled both seem suspicious. I am starting to have a bad feeling about the outcome. It just doesn’t seem likely that she will be found alive and it is heartbreaking.

The YDN (Cross Campus section) just reported that Yale is firmly denying that the professor is a suspect. A VP and another spokesperson say that many people are being interviewed and that the professor is not being singled out.

Another reason why you shouldn’t go to New Haven.

Disagree with the previous writer. Crimes of this nature are committed by deranged people. And there are deranged people everywhere in our society: urban, rural, large cities, small towns.

The FBI is absolutely not going to admit to the media that the professor is a suspect. I believe they have reason to think the professor is involved in some way.

Carin - don’t go to New Haven - don’t apply to Yale.

omg…

Supposedly they found her body - a news conference will be held at 5:30 today…so sad…

There is a press conference going on right now, which is being live-blogged by the YDN: [Press conference at Woodbridge Hall](http://www.yaledailynews.com/crosscampus/2009/09/12/live-blog-press-conference-woodbridge-hall/)

^^^That’s a relief. Still no good news, but at least there’s no indication that she’s not alive.
