I'll be graduating in May with a B.A. in Policy Studies. What is the job market like for people in this industry (communications, pr, public policy, etc)? Specifically entry level jobs?

What internships did you do during your undergraduate years? That’s a good place to start if you are looking for an entry-level career in communications, public relations, public policy, etc. Keep in mind, too, that you may not even find a job related to your undergraduate major. In this economy, especially, you’ll be lucky to find a job at all.

At the federal level, there are many jobs. At many state levels, there are no jobs. There are few jobs at the local levels.

If you’re looking for jobs with private corporations, I’m sure you can find something in major cities.

You should absolutely look into getting something in politics if that interests you. You can work for many different departments of the government, or even work for individual officials. If you are looking for the PR aspect being a spokesperson might be difficult, but they are needed at the federal level. Look at [USAJOBS - The Federal Government’s Official Jobs Site](http://www.usajobs.gov/) as a way to find many entry level jobs with the gov’t.

For someone seeking jobs related to Public Policy and Policy studies. Or for students studying this course, I would recommend: ‘Economics, Politics, and American Public Policy’ ([ViewInside - Economics, Politics, and American Public Policy](ViewInside - Economics, Politics, and American Public Policy)) and ‘Meaning in Action’ - Interpretation and Dialogue in Policy Analysis ([ViewInside - Meaning in Action](ViewInside - Meaning in Action))
