Polisci Transfer. Need advice!! GW, NYU, Gtown..?

Hello,

I am trying to narrow down my list of colleges to apply to for transfer. I intend to major in either political science or international relations

My stats are:
SAT: V: 670 M: 690 W: 750

High School:
GPA: 3.8
President of class, top 5%, Congressional Page, Congressional internship, etc.

College: Went to Pitt for one semester, transferred to CC for financial reasons

UPitt: GPA: 3.45 (1 semester)
CC GPA: 3.73 (two semesters so far)

In college, I got a full scholarship in the honors program. I am Senate chairman in student government, editor of literary magazine, write for school paper, and have volunteered on various campaigns.

Anyway, my list of schools so far are:

American
George Washington
Georgetown
UVA
NYU (accepted out of high school)
UChicago

I want to highlight my upward trend GPA-wise, and I will have terrific recommendations, and strong essays. I want to know if I can use American/GW as safety schools? Also, which of the schools listed are matches and which are reaches? Any other advice or schools that you think would match my stats?

Thanks!

If you are a poli sci transfer I would try for Georgetown or GW (Gtown might be a bit of a reach though,as would U of Chicago), the opportunities for internships and meeting the right connections is right there. But when it comes to transfering nothing is a lock, just keep that in mind.

most of those schools you listed, seem to be reaches, some more realistic than others...american is very realistic, but a 3.45 from pitt and a 3.7 from a cc are a bit low for most of the schools that you mentioned...i think uchicago and gtown are big reaches...uva, nyu and gwu are more realistic, but probably still low reaches...gwu is certainly not a safety...you might well get into one or more of your reach-y schools, but if you want to transfer out of your cc, and i assume that you do, i suggest putting some more matches on your list

I cant understand seeing GW as a low reach school. Im in the top 25% of their SAT ranges, and they accept over 50% of transfers.

But what schools do you think would be good matches for me considering my stats?

your sat's are of little to no importance at this point. perhaps gw is more in the match range orhigh match range, but it is def. not a safety

Can someone please recommend some match/safety schools for me?
