@glassesarechic thanks for narrowing it down. :-)

@blueiguana thanks for the insight, but is there absolutely no way I could change my schedule to have a chance?

@mom2collegekids I honestly and truly had no idea what kind of schools were prestigious (except for the Ivies) when I picked them out, so I really didn’t base my choices on that. I based them on what I posted earlier: less than 10,000 students, great academics, social variety, and major variety.

*less than 10,000 students, great academics, social variety, and major variety. *

Sorry, I missed that.

Is this a ■■■■■…
I don’t see AP Photography…

[AP Courses - Advanced Placement Course Descriptions](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>AP Courses and Exams – AP Students | College Board)

It’s weird that Collegeboard doesn’t have it but I know several friends who took it this year.

^^^

Maybe it was dual enrollment at a university. If collegeboard doesn’t list it, then it doesn’t exist as an AP course.

^^ I’m not really sure what the deal is with AP Photo. I agree, it’s not on college board, but I know we have to take an AP test for it and everything… so I don’t know… just in case you were wondering.

I was thinking about adding AP Euro to my schedule and potentially another AP class. Do you think that will make a difference?

Also, how am I doing with ECs?

The Ap course for photography is AP Studio Art 2D. There is also AP Studio Art Drawing and AP Studio Art 3D. It is indeed an official Collegeboard AP class. The “test” is a portfolio review and the requirements are extensive, by no means an easy 5.

Haha thank you, fishymom, I was starting to get scared by everyone’s comments about AP Photography (I’m taking it next year), but now I see that they thought it was a joke without knowing that it was a real AP class. :)

OP, do you know what you want to major in?. From your scores and ECs, I assume that you are more of an arts/humanities person and less of a math/science person. You’re looking at RISD–do you want to be an art major? Perhaps someone else can chime in with the schools that are particularly strong in art but also have a lot of variety and overall good academics and match up with your stats.

@sunshower212 You got me exactly right. I’m a very artsy/humanities person, but I really have no idea from there what I want to major in. :-)

Ahhhh…so it’s not really called AP Photography…it’s called AP Studio Art 2D

Be aware that some colleges won’t give credit for that. :(

Are you limiting your choices to small/med schools for a reason?

I like small and medium schools because it’s usually a smaller class size and I’d like to know people around campus (not meet a person and never see them again).

Ahh…

Well, you might consider some larger schools with honors programs. Those are often limited to small class sizes (15-25 kids). They give the “small college feel” with the benefits of a larger school.

Also, just because a school is large, doesn’t mean that you won’t see classmate friends again and again.

A person’s major “shrinks” a school. Typically - even at larger colleges - the courses in your major (and the pre-reqs) will often have the same kids in them.

Hmm okay, thanks. I guess I need to research my schools a little more.

Thank you everyone so much… I think it’s time to let this thread die. :-)
