Political Essay

One of Michigan's essay prompts asks me to describe a community, culture or idealology that I belong too. I am really big into politics so I wrote my essay about my political views. I wrote an essay about what liberal values mean to me and how I believe the government should operate. I did not include any inflamatory statements and I even stated that I agree with several conservative values as well. Do you think a councilor would descriminate against me because they are conservative and I am liberal? Or would that not matter?

They ask for an ideology, so obviously there will be different viewpoints. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. The only thing I’d worry about is showing immature thinking or analysis. Or stereotypical thinking. If you feel confident with that, then go ahead.

My second essay also mentions politics because I am intending to be a Political Science major. Do you think I will look too one dimensional if both essays mention politics?

In this case, I think it is ok. Because in one you are talking about ideology, and in the other you are talking about your personal aspirations. It actually makes for some consistency of interest.
