Hey guys I've been Interning with the democratic party lately(helping with the campaign) and I'm just wondering how much it helps if I apply for an econ/finance type major and how to include it and stuff. I really love my party and I joined blindly and I just realized it could help so yeah any tips would help! Thanks :P I'm not a socialist btw (x

It won’t help that much unless you do something significant with the party. Anyone can say that they helped with the campaign. Big whoop.

HobbitTon: Anyone can say that they interned with a measly, virtual non-profit organization that was “ran” by one of his own peers. Big whoop.

Frankly, I thought your statement was incredibly crude and discouraging.

Joseq841: Will a single political internship propel your application into the “admit pile”? Probably not. Will it show interest, tenacity, vigor, and “moxie”? Yes.

Oh and FYI, I consider myself to be a Democratic Socialist. However, I frequently campaign for the Democratic party.

What type of things did you do while interning? Im interested in helping out this summer myself but I have no clue what Id even be doing

Yeah, same here. Are you interning for a specific person or helping the Obama campaign in general? If you’re interning for a specific person, who is it, if you don’t mind me asking? Oh, and I think it’s good that you’re doing at.:)

I didn’t mean it to be discouraging. I’m being realistic. You have to start somewhere I suppose. I am a democrat also. Grow some thick skin, starkali. Helps when you’re on the internet. I’m not using my non-profit as some all amazing EC. I just love to be in it.

@Shevane: If you’re working with the Obama campaign, most likely you’ll be organizing phone banks, walking precincts, and participating in student outreach.

@starkali yeah that’s exactly what I’m doing except we start with the Obama stuff later on… right now its mainly city council, congress, and mayor (: and its obviously not my stand alone EC I just wanted to know if I could integrate it thanks for the support/tips… its good practice for approaching unknown people and facing rejection haha I had to ask people if I could post lawn signs on their lawns and I kept getting rejected lol
