Political Preferences?

I made sure to tell my AP gov. teacher what my history teacher had said...She couldn't believe it...</p>

<p>Well, <em>technically</em> he is correct (if you were referring to the time of slavery) as much of the south was dominated by conservative pro-slavery democrats and the new Republican party was the "liberal" one who wanted to halt the expansion of slavery.</p>
