The graduate programs at BU for both of these subjects are rather lowly ranked, and, though I know that rankings of graduate programs are not wholly suitable for a ranking of undergraduate programs, does anyone know how weak/strong these departments are? Is it easy to contact them if one is interested in doing research with them/having them as a mentor for independent research? Preferably, I’d like current or former students to reply, but, if any high school student knows someone in these programs at BU, your anecdotes would be greatly appreciated.

let’s give this a good ole’ bump.

bump…

wow. bump. can someone help me out here (please?)?

I’m about to pick Pitt over BU so anything about BU’s phil/poli sci programs would be nice to potentially sway my decision…

I can give you links to the course descriptions and requirements: [Political Science - BU 2009-10 Undergraduate Bulletin](http://www.bu.edu/bulletins/und/item13d44.html)

I would guess that finding mentors/advisors for research would be quite accesible especially as you become an upperclassmen. You’d get an advisor once you’re here and could look more deeply into that idea. It couldn’t hurt to send an e-mail or call the department if you want more information now. If you visit, then stop by the office. I know a few Political Science majors who really do like the program, although I don’t believe they’re doing Philosophy as well though…and I read a cool article in the FreeP today about a Philosophy Discussion club. They had a Hookah & Philosophy event outside. They mentioned some of the discussions they had, and it sounded very intriguing.

I love BU though so definitely consider coming here if it’s an affordable option! Best of luck deciding!

To be honest, I was hoping that you would say that the departments were horrible because I have till tomorrow to make this decision and I’m at an absolute deadlock at this point.
