I know BC is famous for its business programs, but for somebody like myself who wants to go into politics, is BC a good choice?

Yes. We have a great poli sci department and many students are able to get internships either in Congress or with the Mass. Governor’s office during their time at BC. I am from the DC area and I can tell you that BC is extremely well regarded in the nation’s capitol. We also do very well with law school admissions, a route that many who want to work in politics go. PM me if you have more questions, but BC will definitely prepare you for a career in politics. Check out bcheights.com, there is an article about a UN negotiation that is coming to BC in June.

Yes, definitely. I went to the polisci presentation at admitted eagle day in January and it was amazing. I plan to major in polisci next year at BC.

I’m a poli sci major at BC. I’m only a freshman, but you can PM me if you have more specific questions. The Fundamentals course (intro) is a little rough right now, but I’m excited for the electives that I can take next year.

thanks guys i’ll pm the both of you because i definitely have questions. i apologize in advance if they’re really dumb.

Ahh, young people; this will show my years but Wiki:

Thomas “Tip” O’Neill
Rev. Robert Drinan
Daniel & Philip Berrigan (more of a Jesuit reference than a BC one)

BC and Political Science has a long, intense, and by today’s standards, controversial, relationship.

If you listen carefully you can hear the echoes of “Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh, we don’t know who’s gonna win.”

are you saying BC supported ho chi minh and the communists?

^ Yeah, I’m kind of confused by that statement.

ROTFL!!! Lord save me. Yes, yes, back in the day we all had Che Guevara beards and plotted the downfall of capitalism. Funny how most of us ended up going “in country” working on Wall Street or for major corporations.

Seriously, did any of you actually take a history class? Go to Wikipedia and do some research!

If all you can do is regurgitate what you’ve been spoon fed, then, unless things have changed precipitously, the good Jesuits at BC are going to chew you up and spit you out.

Research. Question. Analyze. Respond.

Dear vinceh : Great response. Sometimes, folks on the message board confuse religious affiliation with Jesuit education. At Boston College, you will quickly find many professors who will intentionally put forward a perspective to make your blood boil to check for sheep-like agreement or a path of unique and researched thought.

Sorry that I was confused by a statement? Doesn’t make me an idiot, like you implied. Rude…

Thank you Scottj. It’s always good to hear that things haven’t changed that much.

Kiterunner, sorry you found my comment rude, but I’ll warn you, if you are so easily offended I’d assiduously avoid the more discussion oriented political science classes at BC.
