Is political science an impacted major at UCLA?

Yes.

/endthread.

Yes, but all you need is a 3.2-3.3 at you're CCC and you're pretty much in.

really? How about English major at UCLA. I know its not as impacted as Poli Sci (maybe it is, but not so sure), but would a 3.88 GPA raise my chances?

Go check the UCLA transfer website.
It contains the average GPA for the admitted cc transfer students last year for each major:

For poli-sci major, the avg. GPA admitted was a 3.54, and out of 954 applied, 500 were admitted, which 52.41%. I wouldn't consider this as an impacted major. Although it requires relatively high gpa to get in, its availability in spaces is quite large (remember, 500 admitted is A LOT).

For English major, GPA was 3.5, and out of 698 ppl applied, 399 were admitted (57.16%), which is also almost similar situation as the Poli-Sci major, except slightly easier to get in.

what I'd call impacted:

Business Economics (3.80 GPA with 19.20% admission rate)
Communication Studies (3.87 GPA with 15.85% admission rate)
Economics (3.75 GPA with 21.53% admission rate)
ALL of the Engineering Department majors.

So my advice to the OP:
Try to get over a 3.6 GPA, and complete all the major requirements PRIOR to the submission of your application to UCLA.

Advice to Pellman:
3.88 is MORE than enough to get you in to the English major. however, I believe you are applying BizEcon as your first choice? Then you might as well maintain that GPA, if not raise more. Then You'll be in good shape.

Thats hypothetical dhl3; English is my first major. I was just reiterating the arguement.

Those stats were very helpful though, thanks.
