I was wondering about the political science department at the University of Minnesota; how it is, if people generally like it, and its reputation. Would it be good preparation for law school?

also if you have any other comments about UMN that would be great too, because i haven't visited and was wondering if the campus was nice too!

Thanks everyone,

I myself is highly interested in Minnesota, and from my own research their political science ( and economics) department is highly reguarded and would be a great choice.

Poli. Sci. is a great major/area of study at the U. It pays to come to a school that’s only a few miles out from the state capital.

Econ. is excellent! Consistently ranked in the top 5 in the nation(currently third). Both majors are excellent choices.

The U’s campus is absolutely gorgeous. Especially right now with all of the fall colors. If you have any questions or concerns message me and I will help you out!

I think I heard somewhere that the percentage of U of M grads that go on to eventually hold some kind of elected office is something like 1 in 9 and is among the highest in the country. UMN has developed a very strong political science dept with being so close to the state capital a major reason (the same can be said for UW). T-Paw, the current governor with a good shot at making a run at the Reublican Presidential Nomination in 2012, is a U of M Undergrad and U of M Law Grad.

Political Science and Economics are the stand out programs in Liberal Arts, both among the top in the nation in their fields.
