Hi, as a Sophmore in High school I have been faced with the external pressure to decide on a “passion” or focus. Looking at what I’m interested in, I enjoy politics and policy. I am in MUN and devoted a lot to the team. Other than that, I am lacking in depth of my newfound interest and was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to how I might do as such. Thanks in advance!
hey there! i’m also a sophomore, and although i am not pursuing poli sci in college, i do take interest in politics and current political affairs. start a political club like JSA (Junior State of America). JSA is a student-run organization that fights political apathy in high school students. There are conferences that JSAers can attend throughout the year that are both local and regional where high schoolers come together to debate and discuss various political topics. you can learn more about it at http://jsa.org/. as for internships, try to get one in a political campaign. i am planning on interning for someone who is running for governor in my state, and experiences like this are really interesting because you get hands-on experience in politics and get to be involved in the behind-the-scenes part of running a political campaign. good luck!
