Political Science Major at UCLA

How is it???

Good question. I'm a poli sci major too...how is it?

I've taken a lower division poli sci course and it was great.

I've heard it's really easy to finish and most poli sci majors double major in something else.

i really wish i could comment since im a declared pre-poli sci major too, but um... it's been hard to get into classes lol. and hard to find a good professor for the lower division courses. i heard upper division is much better though. poli sci is one of the most popular majors/minors at ucla.

yes, you can finish your degree in poli sci in roughly 3 years. there's several majors and minors that poli sci students like to double in... although that's really up to you, most of them are do-able.

lol this is true - you'll have quite a bit of trouble getting into the lower division poli sci courses, since they fill up insanely fast. But other than that, most people I know in the major enjoy it.

The lower division poli sci classes are:

World Politics
Intro to Political Theory
Intro to Am Gov
Intro to Comp Gov

Right? Or are there more?

You need to take 4 of the 5 lower division courses:

World Politics (International Relations)
Intro to Political Theory
Intro to American Gov
Intro to Comp Gov
Politics and Strategy

Poli Sci 30 - Politics and Strategy
Poli Sci 6 - Intro to Data Analysis

4 of the 5 that veritas listed PLUS poli sci 6 that icarus listed for pre-poli sci. once you finish those, then you can apply for the actual poli sci major.

Oh yeah, I didn't realize that because I'm a transfer student and I took a regular intro to statistics course which also satisfies the requirement for the major.

You can choose from a variety of other courses besides Poli Sci 6, this is from the UCLA Political Science webpage:
"Students must also take Political Science 6 or one of the following statistics courses: Anthropology M80, Economics M40, Geography M40, Sociology M18, Statistics 10."
