Hi all,

I'm currently an English major considering a political science minor. What kind of work does political science entail (papers, projects, etc.), and is there a staggering amount of reading?

Hi,

PS major here. Typically you will have a midterm, final, and then a few papers in-between, usually about 7 pages in length. I’ve had classes where there are more papers, and one class that was only graded based on the midterm and final (though this is rare). The amount of reading really depends on the classes you take; political theory courses are usually pretty reading heavy, as are those in the IR track. Others aren’t as bad, though.

PS does take work, but it’s not a super intense major or anything. I love it, and would highly suggest it. The faculty are amazing and many of them have served as presidential advisors or on major national and international government committees.

good luck!

would you suggest double majoring in another major? if so what wouldd be some complimentary majors?
