just a guess… right

My son is a Senior PS major. As compared to other colleges, he feels that A&M’s dept is definitely more right than others. That being said, it IS Political Science, and you do have more left wing points of view than that of the rest of the generally conservative student body. My son is in the Corps of Cadets, planning to join the military, and is about as right wing as they come, and even most of his more liberal professors have encouraged friendly debate with him on the issues. They may disagree with him, but by and large respect his viewpoint. I don’t recall him having any professors who blatantly taught their liberal opinion as fact, which I have heard about other places.

The only POLS class I took at A&M was with a left wing prof (Lim for POLS 207). She was a great prof! The department is definitely on the right side.

Xcellerator- I just signed up for classes and got Lim for POLS 207. I hope she is a good.

She’s really funny and tells good stories. Be sure to do the online quizzes from the book website. She gets half her test questions from there. And also read the book too. Pretty easy to do well, though the 3rd test sucked.

If you plan on going this route, you should plan on trying to get into the 5 year program and get your masters in public service from the bush school. With just a B.S. in poli sci, you’ll either be unemployed or trying to get into law school.

I was not aware of the five year program. Thanks for mentioning it!

My roommate last year did it, and is really enjoying it. To be competitive you should aim for a 3.4 or higher in undergrad, and a strong GRE score (taken junior year or so)
