Political Slant at W&M

Hey, all. I just got into W&M and I'm looking seriously at it, but I've been wondering about one thing. How is the W&M campus, politically speaking? Is it mostly conservative? I ask only because I'm a fairly liberal Democrat and I'm worried about having a super-strong liberal presence on campus (like Wesleyan) or an overwhelming conservative presence on campus.

So, is it liberal? Conservative? Balanced between the two? Any answers would be appreciated.

I'd say it's balanced - certainly nothing like Wesleyan. I know of kids with political views across the spectrum. There are political organizations on all sides, as well. Congrats on your acceptance! Have you visited?

I'm a very liberal democrat too, and I like that the campus is moderate. there is a sizable republican and democrat community and ways to become active in each. it's more liberal than UVa and richmond, but also more conservative than comparable liberal arts schools in the northeast. so, I'd say WM is a good balance since you're not looking for either extreme

I agree with the last post...I'm super liberal and I have found people just like me on this campus, I have also seen the presence of Southern Republicans too so I mean, at W&M you have pretty much everything. Be aware though...most people fall under moderate to liberal.
