Political viewpoints at SDSU

This seems really weird, but it kind of matters to me. I am in the minority- I am quite conservative for an average high schooler in California and I am open to liberal ideas, but is social justice/being a liberal a big theme here at SDSU? For a school that is within 50 miles from the US-Mexico border and being in California, I am sure that the majority of students would identify as liberal, but do students make it a theme/point to be liberal?

I think there is some activity on campus occasionally. I say I think, because it’s not very obvious or loud or frequent. I’m sure most students are liberal. I’m not. The few people I’ve talked to about it are, but I’m in the art building usually so that’s to be expected… don’t go looking for fights or protests and you probably won’t find any. I wouldn’t worry about it.

@NorCalGuy90 - You shouldn’t have a problem at all. I’m an Aztec parent and alum, and, yes, there will always be some very political people on campus, but most of the students at SDSU are truly supportive of one another no matter what side of the political aisle they are on. I know of conservative students who are leaders in non-political groups, and they are not mocked for their beliefs, and are well respected. The big thing is to be polite and listen to others if you want them to listen to you, and like @alexisNS wrote, “don’t go looking for fights or protests.” This fall might be a bit more political than normal solely because it will be election time, and that time of year tends to be more stressful everywhere.
