Politically active campuses?

I'm transferring from community college next fall and intend to major in economics. I really want to fit in at the college I go to, so I'd like to know about colleges with a really active political environment.

So far I'm looking at Northwestern, James Madison College at Michigan State, and Bowdoin. I can't afford anything over about $30,000 dollars, so unfortunately American University is out of my reach. Any other ones I'm overlooking?

Berkeley, if you're a CA resident....

Can't, I won't be a junior. Anything else?

Check out Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Very politically active community.

University of Oregon looks interesting, but the CC board is pretty much dead. Anyone know anything about it?

I wouldn't go there. Not a very good school.

Why is it not a very good school? 108th in the country seems quite good to me, and I'm basing my undergrad choice mostly on campus environment, not ranking.

LogicWarrior, a large number of people from my high school get into Oregon. A large number of them also transferred or ended up going to our junior college, hoping to transfer later to Berkeley.

What they told me was that people at University of Oregon didn't really care about anything else but partying.

I have no firsthand experience, but it doesn't seem like a good school to me.
