Politically, which school has the best balance between liberals and conservatives?

I suspect the lists cited by gadad are mostly bunk. Duke hardly leans right – the last survey (2007) put the campus as 36.3% liberal, 36.7% moderate, 22.2% conservative, and 4.80% radical. The campus has grown more liberal since then, or at least it seemed that way to me.

I don’t have such statistics for Wake Forest, but with 75% in favor of abortion, 80% in favor of legal marijuana, and 80% in favor of gay marriage, it’s hardly a bastion of conservatism either.

Kwu is correct; the vast majority of top colleges lean left. I’d move several of gadad’s moderate schools into the right category (Dartmouth, Stanford, Harvard, UNC, Yale, etc.) and most of the right schools into the moderate category except maybe Berea, Morehouse, and Wabash.
