Politics on campus

How conservative is the student body?

For the most part, it's pretty moderate and slightly liberal-leaning. However, I know super-super liberal people, as well as super-super conservative people There's a pretty good mix, though.

To be fair, I think a third of the campus is liberal, a third conservative, and a third indifferent/apathetic/too preoccupied with international politics to care about domestic affairs. There's a good balance.

We always say that Georgetown is pretty much balanced. I think in recent years gauging by my sister's experience the student body has shifted a little more to the left, and the faculty for sure has always been a little more on the left. But I think the bigger thing is people are usually very open to debate discussion and hearing new ideas whatever their political leanings, which you'll discover quickly here and which I think is really great about Georgetown versus other schools.
