hi there i was just wondering how James Madison bends politically. I'm an extreme conservative, will I feel uncomfortable at JMU politics wise? Also does JMU have republican/democrat clubs on campus?

Thanks

I don't go to JMU (still in HS) but I live in Harrisonburg.

Harrisonburg (due to JMU mostly) is very moderate for a small town in the south. It may lean VERY VERY slightly liberal. However the second you leave city limits and enter Rockingham county (a bunch of farms pretty much) you're in Bush country so it's not like you'll be totally isolated.

I've seen the College Democrats active in the community, but not the College Republicans. Not to say it doesn't exist because I consider myself a Democrat and see the College Democrats there. Obviously the College Republicans won't be there.

You certainly won't feel uncomfortable. Remember you're still in the south and despite Harrisonburg becoming more and more urban, it is still a small town of only 50,000 or so.

Hope you enjoy it. PM me if you have any questions.
