if u keep flooding or sending letters essays and stuff to them, does that help very much? is there a chance they wont like it.. i am approaching a similar method to my number 1 college (uninversity of virginia) what do you all think of that?

Is anybody going to apply ED II to their 2nd choice school, if you were deferred from your 1st?

It is extraordinarily tough to get accepted after you are deferred. Some of the reasons for a "realistic defer" could be:

1) Upward grade trend - admissions officers want to see a very strong midterm report.
2) Lower standardized test scores - admissions officers want to see better retakes.

Now ... those are easy reasons. If you're a "polite" defer, because you have high grades/scores/recs, then you need to get out there and show some real academic initiative. Big prizes and big-name researching would probably help.

It's really tough, especially since you can't really resubmit an application they've already seen. If you could, then you might want to re-do your essays, etc., but that most likely won't work.

Joey

Joey why do you say this??? The acceptance rate at CU for deferred peeps is like 40% which is higher than the regular admit rate...where do you get this info from!?

The defer-to-admit rates vary from school to school....don't worry, NickyJane18, you still have an excellent shot...

If you were deferred; you should read the letter to see if it offers you direction, consider the schools history (does it reject students out right during ed); take it as an opportunity to show them some more of your stuff (mid-term grades, another letter of recommendation, more medals and honors received) and if you have the blessing of an available college counselor ask them to contact the school to see what they are looking for.

That might help you with your ED school, but you should also consider what your safety schools are and if they are true safeties or merely low matches.

Has anyone ever asked a school that deferred an ed to consider them for an early evaluation?
Good Luck.....

i got deferred at cornell ED. i was sort of upset but cornell is a longshot for me and i was expecting at best to be deferred (but most likely rejected). i think i'm gonna send like my new math 1c and chem sat 2 scores i retook in december and praying that i'll have a really good mid-year report to send them at the end of this month. but seriously theres not that much you can do except submit new scores, grades, or maybe letters from alums

my dad will write you a letter for $_____. bidding starts at $20. Any takers?

No, this is NOT a joke!

(yes its a joke...)

No. Even if I got accepted to MIT wouldn't go!

Can someone comment on UVA's deferred applicants acceptance rate during RD?
