Hey so if we're not a scholarship recipient, we don't live in the LA area, but a parent is going with us, we're not eligible to stay with a student host for the night? I was really hoping to do so. Anyone know if theres any way around this?

You have to pay $50 for Explore USC whereas Preview USC is free. Basically Explore USC is much more in-depth and allows you to talk to current students, professors, etc. Basically more aspects of student life are covered. They also pay for lunch and breakfast the day after in addition to allowing students to stay with a host.

From what I understand, Preview is more of a general overview.

I know that USC's travel agency, STA, offers special airfares to scholarship interviewees.

Does it apply to applicants who were not invited for the top two scholarships? And if so, are both Explore USC and Preview USC eligible for the special airfare? Thanks.

satpunkd - I think that applicants who were not invited for the top two scholarships are still eligible for special airfare from STA. There was, after all, a paper in the acceptance package regarding STA and telling us to contact them for reduced rates. I think Explore and Preview are eligible, but I'm not sure.

From the material it doesn't look like there are overnight stays with student hosts for these programs. I think those were for the top scholarship interviewees... This is either Explore USC, a full day (9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.) or Preview USC, half day (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.).
