Should I buy a truly top of the line (according to Consumer Report + other sources) 32 inch HDTV to entertain me this year and more importantly entertain me in college?

I'll be living in a dorm...

Should I buy a truly top of the line (according to Consumer Report + other sources) 32 inch HDTV to entertain me this year and more importantly entertain me in college?

I'll be living in a dorm...

no (----------)

Doesn't this depend on LOTS of other factors? For instance... how much you watch TV, how much money you can afford to spend on something like this, how demanding your college workload will be, etc.

The only advice I'd have is that 32 inches seems like overkill for a dorm :-/ no I'd vote no.

NO.

But if you do it anyway, please consider your roommate's opinion. Space for something that big is usually hard to come by in a dorm.

I have this one:

Sunsetronics - Sceptre-X20SV-Naga: Discount Auto Accessories, Parts and More.

It works great (have both Wii/360 hooked up to it, both looks great. Could hook up something wtih HDMI like Apple TV or PS3 if I had it).

I bought it a year and a half ago, for $199.99, so you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere now. But it's out of production I would assume.

But I wouldn't go for an expensive, 1080p set for a dorm. Get one of the smaller, like a 20" or 27" for the dorm room.

I watch TV and play my playstation 3 a lot and my NFL Sunday Ticket is very very important to me.

Should I go with a 27 incher then? --in which case I'd have to go another year without HD for my football games (but my playstation 3 is hooked up to my parents' HDTV...i'm a rising senior in high school by the way) and I'd get the 27 incher on Black Friday

NO

put it in the commons perhaps :)

No, TV is antisocial and takes time away from the better parts of college life.

First, you need to go tour the dorms you want to live in. Where I'm going has a hole in the wall that the tv goes into and there is nowhere else to put it. I don't think that either one of those would fit in. It would suck to buy one and then find out that it won't fit.

Second, I don't know of any colleges that have NFL Sunday Ticket or any other special channels. It's basic cable, and you are lucky to even get that at some places.

Third, they have HDTV is almost every size now except for the tiny ones. Even the 27 inch. I know this because I have one.

So I vote no.

Those are good points. I guess I should see where I end up going to college first but my top choice is probably UNC Wilmington

I have a 37" HDTV.... perfect for watching sports, playing games, or watching my favourite chick tvshows. oh and house. god i love tv.

No. You'll be reading too much and studying too hard to have time for TV. :)

If you play video games, a bigger TV might also be nice.

No. i used to watch lots of tv at home, and I still do when I come back home. I would say I watched less than an hour or two of tv a month.

However some of the boys had huge tvs and loved them. I should mention they were failing most of their classes.

For a dorm, I'd say no, go with a 27 inch TV to be safe. You may be busy at times, but there is still much downtime that a TV is worth it to have. It's nice to have one so I can watch my favorite reality shows, yep.

Also, yeah, as someone pointed out, you won't be able to get Sunday Ticket, League Pass, etc. Not sure how the NFL does it, bt the NBA streams the games on broadband, so you can usually go on eBay and buy someones league pass login info and watch on your computer.

I'd love a jacuzzi myself :D

no-study instead

Why does everyone assume that studying and TV are mutually exclusive?

You can study and then later watch TV, as long as you've got some will power and don't succumb to the temptation of TV every time you should be studying.

No, what a waste of money. And space.
