Poll: to do ED or not

I am not talking about a specific school.
But just Early Decision in general.

I know some students know their first choice.
But many do not, but apply ED anyway.

In your opinion, why should no student apply ED, even if they believe it is their first choice?

Just wanted to hear some opinions. By the way, if you disagree, tell me why.

-Goalsetter

and Poll is here:

** No ED at all: **
Goalsetter

** Total: ** 1

** ED is fine for anyone: **

** Total: ** 0

** ED only if sure of first-choice: **

** Total: ** 0

ED should absolutely avoided by families who can’t pay full freight. Your POLL results will generate what? C’mon. what will you do if the numbers are 30-70 or 80-20???

How scientific or even useful is this thread? Ask a real question or better yet, read the many other threads by people who have asked thoughtful questions on ED yes or no.

Agree. ED is just a really, really bad idea unless you are comfortably full-pay, in which case, go for it.

I agree with the above. If you’re applying for financial aid, don’t apply ED. If you’re comfortably full-pay, only apply ED if it’s your top choice.
